As Tottenham collapsed to a 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United, footage reemerged of Antonio Conte’s furious rant after their draw with Southampton.
A 3-3 draw with the Saints saw Antonio Conte leave Spurs but his assistant, Cristian Stellini, was left to take charge of the team.
Since that point, the north London side, who were in contention for Champions League qualification, have thrown away a 1-0 lead to draw with troubled Everton, secured a controversial win over Brighton, but then endured embarrassing losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle.
And as Tottenham slumped to 5-0 down in just 21 minutes against the Magpies, footage of Conte’s final press conference began to do the rounds again on Twitter.
Furious with the side at St Mary’s, the Italian ranted: “The problem is we have shown we are not a team. We are 11 players.
“I see selfish players. I see players that don’t want to help each other, don’t play with heart.
“It is the same every season, no matter who the manager is. They’re used to it here.
“Don’t play for something important. They don’t want to play under pressure. They don’t want to play under stress.
“Tottenham’s story is this. Twenty years there is the owner and they never won something but why? The fault is only for the club, or for every manager that stay here. I have seen the managers that Tottenham had on the bench. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment.
“Until now I try to hide the situation but now, no, because I repeat I don’t want to see what I’ve seen today because this is unacceptable and also unacceptable for the fans.
“They follow us, pay the ticket and to see the team another time to have this type of performance is unacceptable. We have to think a lot about this.”
Tottenham now sit six points outside the top-four but have played two games more than Manchester United in fourth and one more than Newcastle in third.
