Rojo spent the first half of the 2019/20 season alongside Maguire after the Red Devils spent £80million on the ex-Leicester star.

He departed Old Trafford on a permanent deal after nearly seven years in February 2021 after joining Boca having fallen down the pecking order under Solskjaer.

And he didn’t hold back in his analysis of Maguire, as he declared his relationship with Solskjaer become fractured after he lamented the 30-year-old over his mistakes.

Speaking prior to United’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham, Rojo then expressed his delight that his compatriot Lisandro Martinez has forced him out of the line-up this season.

He told TyC Sports: “In 2019 I was playing in the Europa League, but I was really angry with the Manchester coach [Solskjaer].

“He was putting Maguire [in the team] instead of me, who thank god finally they took him out from the starting line-up for Licha [Lisandro] Martinez.

“One day I went to Solskjaer’s office to tell him to let me leave for the other club or put [me] in the starting line-up.

“But he told me that Maguire had to play because of the money they paid for him.

“He [Maguire] was making huge mistakes already and I told Solskjaer: ‘Son of a b***h let me play because this guy is making huge mistakes every week’.”

After being a regular under Solskjaer and interim boss Ralf Rangnick last season, Maguire has been limited to a bit-part role under Erik ten Hag.

He has started just seven Premier League games this campaign, with the player continuing to be plagued by inconsistent performances.

And in what may be a bitter pill to swallow for Maguire, Ten hag referred to Bruno Fernandes as the club’s ‘captain’ ahead of United’s draw in north London.
