Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood is already convinced by Ryan Mason after just one game as Spurs head coach this season.
Mason took charge of his former side against Manchester United, and saw them fight back from 2-0 down to take a draw.
The appointment came after he replaced Cristian Stellini as acting head coach, with the Italian dismissed in the aftermath of a 6-1 defeat against Newcastle.
Mason previously took over in the dugout on a caretaker basis in 2021 when Jose Mourinho was sacked, and will almost certainly be replaced by a full-time candidate this summer.
However, Sherwood, who managed the team between 2013 and 2014, told talkSPORT that he doesn’t see why it shouldn’t be Mason.
“They came out and played for the badge and that’s all that Tottenham fans ask for,” Sherwood said.
“Listening to why it shouldn’t be Ryan Mason, we’ve had Jose Mourinho, we’ve had Antonio Conte, they’re the trophy managers and what did they do? They could do a lot worse.”
Discussing how management has changed, Sherwood added: “The game’s the same now but the terminology has changed. If you don’t play the game now with all the new vocabulary you don’t get a job.
“These guys when they go in front of the chairmen they’re all academics, they give them pie charts, they give them the grids, they give them the justifications of why they should do these jobs.
“Then when the ink is dry they sign the contract and baffle them with signings and turn out to be complete frauds.”
