Murali Kartik, a former Indian spinner, recently expressed concern about the spinners for Punjab Kings (PBKS), noting that players like Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, and Sam Curran had recently had difficulty getting going.
Kartik stressed that it becomes difficult for a team if three or four of their bowlers are often destroyed by the opposition. The former cricketer-turned-commentator claimed that if PBKS wants to win their remaining games in the ongoing IPL 2023, their key players will need to step up.

Former Indian spinner Murali Kartik has expressed concern over Punjab Kings’ bowlers’ form. He specifically referenced their death bowling as a source of concern. Sam Curran, who was supposed to do well, has struggled, and Kagiso Rabada has also been costly, according to Kartik. He also criticized Arshdeep Singh for not living up to the expectations placed on him.
“Their [PBKS’] death bowling is a cause for concern. Sam Curran has struggled and Kagiso Rabada has also been expensive. There were a lot of expectations from Arshdeep Singh, but his form hasn’t been that good either,” Murali Kartik said.

“The teams who have done well, their main players have peaked at the right time. You’d want your top players to step up at this crucial juncture. If three or four bowlers get hit in one match, you don’t have any option,” Murali Kartik added.
“Punjab will have to utilize their players well” – Murali Kartik
Murali Kartik said that if Punjab wants to achieve its goals, it must make effective use of its talents. He emphasized how poorly Harpreet Brar and Sikandar Raza were utilized by the opposition. Raza had produced game-winning performances for the squad, therefore Kartik felt that PBKS failed tactically by dropping him.
“Harpreet Brar bowled just one over in the last match. It is important to use the bowlers that you have. Then there is Sikandar Raza, who was dropped even though he won two matches for them. This has been a problem for Punjab. You have to utilize such players. Otherwise, it is like shooting yourself in the foot,” Murali Kartik said.
