If Liverpool or Tottenham have a need for speed then they’re on the right track by targeting Micky Van de Ven.
The Dutch defender has emerged as a transfer option for the Premier League duo after impressing with German side Wolfsburg since 2021.
A left-sided centre-back by trade, the 22-year-old has plenty of desirable attributes but none more-so than his electric speed.
And with interest in the defender becoming more solid a clip has resurfaced on social media of Van de Ven showing his pace in all its glory.
In a DFB-Pokal game against Union Berlin, Wolfsburg were 2-1 down but playing against 10 men as they looked to reach the quarter-finals.
Chasing the equaliser in added time his goalkeeper Pavao Pervan was allowed to go forward for a corner, but a poor delivery saw it fall back to a Berlin star.
Their opponents broke free down the left and lofted a ball forward into the Wolfsburg penalty area.
It appeared Van de Ven’s ex-teammate Jerome Roussillon was set for an easy tap-in.
But, frantically tracking back, the Dutchman somehow managed to sprint from the opposition penalty area and back into his own box to pull off a glorious block.
The defender had no right to make it back in time to deny Roussillon, but it just goes to show just have fast the Dutch star really is.

Pace is a key attribute in the Premier League, particularly for defenders as they look to stifle opposition attackers.
No wonder Tottenham and Liverpool are keen on Van de Ven.
