Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce broke Tony Gonzalez‘s record for the most receiving yards in franchise history during Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins in Germany and snubbed New England Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski when speaking of the greatest at the position.
Kelce, 34, has previously struggled trying to choose his favorite tight end in NFL history, but after surpassing Gonzalez in receiving yards, he clearly had to show him love.

“Congrats and well earned my friend,” Gonzalez told Kelce via X (Twitter) alongside a graphic with the new record. “Keep it going, [Travis Kelce].”
“Tony!! The greatest to ever lace em up!! Appreciate ya more than you know,” Kelce responded.
Calling Gonzalez the greatest TE is a direct attack on Gronkowski, who Kelce has previously complimented with the same exact words.
Travis Kelce’s record-setting performance
Kelce only had 14 receiving yards on three catches against Miami, but it allowed him to increase his career total for receiving yards to 10,941.
He broke Gonzalez’s previous record of 10,940 to become the new all-time leading receiver in Chiefs franchise history.
When it’s all said and done, Kelce will be the greatest TE in history, although Detroit Lions rookie Sam LaPorta might give him a run for his money.
For now, Kelce continues to struggle without Taylor Swift in the stadium, but that doesn’t mean she’s not watching.
