Tottenham told rehiring Pochettino will secure Man United-linked Kane’s future at the club

Tottenham have been told the reappointment of Mauricio Pochettino could secure Harry Kane’s future at the club.

Although they’re currently in the Champions League spots, Spurs are in something of a rut having been knocked out of both the Champions League and FA Cup this month.

Their woes have thrown up all sorts of questions surrounding manager Conte and Kane’s future at the club.

Kane’s comments after Spurs’ European exit at the hands of AC Milan sparked concerns among fans about whether he wants to leave amid links to Manchester United but Darren Bent believes the England captain will stay put.

The former Spurs striker added that hiring Pochettino, who has been tipped to come back and succeed Conte, would lead to Kane extending his stay at the club.

“I feel like we’ve been here before with Harry Kane. I don’t really see a burning ambition to leave,” Bent told Drivetime.

“He did that whole Man City thing, maybe he conducted himself in the wrong way, and it’s not been spoken about since.

“If Pochettino goes back to Spurs I think Kane signs a new contract.”

Meanwhile, talkSPORT’s Darren Ambrose believes signing Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is the key to keeping Kane at Spurs.

“I’d take Ward-Prowse at Spurs for £50m,” Spurs fan Ambrose said earlier this month. “I think he’s the perfect player that Spurs need that goes from defence to attack.

“And he can be that link to the play and I think you’ve got the players that will do the dirty work – the dog work – in terms of [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Oliver] Skipp and players like that.

“I think he’s fantastic. Listen, you sign James Ward-Prowse, Harry Kane stays.

“That’s an extra ten goals a season for him with his deliveries.”
