Tottenham are set to part ways with Antonio Conte later this week, talkSPORT sources understand.
The majority of the Spurs hierarchy feel Conte’s position as manager is untenable following his post-match outburst that followed Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Southampton.
Conte was already very unpopular with a number of senior players and it is understood he has now completely lost the dressing room.
The Italian has been heavily tipped to exit Spurs following his explosive comments at the weekend.
Spurs threw away a 3-1 lead against Saints, who clawed the game back to 3-3, and Conte launched a sensational attack on his players in the immediate aftermath, saying they are ‘selfish’ and don’t ‘want to play under pressure’.
Conte also appeared to criticise the club’s ownership as he questioned the success experienced under the current regime.
With Conte flying back to Italy on Monday, the writing is on the wall regarding his future at the club.
The 53-year-old is out of contract this summer, however it now appears all but certain that his departure will come much sooner.
Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with ten games to go this term, with their next fixture being against Everton on April 3.
Conte has been in charge for just 16 months but, despite maintaining their push to finish in the Champions League places, his future has looked increasingly uncertain.
Spurs exited the FA Cup and Champions League in quick succession earlier this month and fans have been less than impressed with the style of play under the Italian and his overall demeanour.
Despite his contract ticking down, sacking Conte now would still cost significant compensation.
Chairman Daniel Levy is weighing up the viable options to replace him, with Champions League qualification still a target.
Ryan Mason would be considered to take over as interim manager, while Mauricio Pochettino remains keen to return on a permanent basis.
