Forest boss Cooper under increasing pressure with club winless in six games

Steve Cooper is under increasing pressure to keep his job at Nottingham Forest following the club’s shocking form, talkSPORT understands.

The Reds have been dragged into a relegation battle as they sit in 16th spot in the Premier League table ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Wolves.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to be concerned by their recent performances.

Cooper‘s side have failed to win a match in their last six Premier League matches, which has seen them drop down the table.

As it stands, Forest are just two points above the bottom three, and just three ahead of Southampton in 20th.

Defeat to Wolves at the City Ground could leave Cooper in real danger of keeping his post in the Forest dugout.

Forest then face fellow relegation rivals Leeds in their next encounter after Wolves in what will be a six-pointer at Elland Road.

It’s not the first time that the 43-year-old has been under pressure this term in Forest’s first season back in the top-flight since 1999.

A 4-0 defeat to Leicester in October left Forest rooted to the bottom of the table, with all signs pointing towards the Welshman being axed.

It was claimed that Rafael Bentiez was being lined up to replace Cooper whose side had lost six out of their opening eight games.

But he received the best vote of confidence after he was surprisingly offered a new contract until 2025.

Forest have invested heavily this season, with Marinakis splashing out over £160million on 30 players in the last two transfer windows.

It’s not just Cooper that is facing an uncertain future, with West Ham manager David Moyes facing a fight to keep his job beyond the summer.

Despite being the favourites to win the European Conference League – what would be the east London outfit’s first major trophy since 1980 – the Hammers sit in 18th place.

While owner David Sullivan remains reluctant to part ways with the 59-year-old before the end of the season, his resolve could be tested if Southampton win at the London Stadium on Sunday.
