Former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor believes India has a very good seaming bowling option for the World Test Championship final as they will take on Australia in the WTC Final 2023 at the Oval, it will be the second straight final for India.
Speaking on the ICC Review, Ross Taylor admitted India has a huge void to fill in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, but believes India has enough depth to compensate for his absence from the Indian team.
“Very tough to replace someone like Bumrah. He’s been fantastic in all three formats and is the leader of their bowling attack, But I think there’s still enough depth in this Indian line-up to trouble the Australian side. Shami and co are fantastic in these conditions,” Ross Taylor said.
Speaking on India’s bowling attack, Ross Taylor feels the India team has a very good bowling lineup with the likes of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, who have shown their skills with Dukes ball in overseas conditions.
“When you consider the India attack, Siraj and co are also very good with the Duke’s ball. I think there are still a lot of (India) seamers that are fantastic and enjoy bowling with the Dukes ball,” Ross Taylor added.
Earlier, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said the management will send a few Duke Balls to Indian fast bowlers so that they can practice with those balls in preparation for World Test Championship.
Mohammed Shami Is Going To Enjoy Bowling With Dukes Ball – Ross Taylor
Ross Taylor praised Indian pacer Mohammed Shami for his exceptional bowling with the new ball in the overseas condition and also lauded Umesh Yadav for his bowling.
The potential India Fast bowling unit for the World Test Championship will be Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur as they would be India’s first choice bowling options going into their historic final against Australia.
“Shami and his seam presentation, the way he bowls with the new ball, I think he is going to enjoy bowling with the Dukes ball. These players bowl in all conditions and the way they go about it. Umesh Yadav also bowls 140-plus. They will relish the opportunity to bowl with the Dukes ball and in English conditions,” Ross Taylor concluded.
India will take on Australia in the 2023 WTC Final at Kensington Oval on June 7, 2023, with a reserve day on June 12. Team India lost the inaugural edition of the WTC Final in 2021 against New Zealand at Southampton.
