Chelsea have held initial talks with managerial candidate Mauricio Pochettino, talkSPORT understands.
The Blues are searching for a new permeant manager to take over next season, with Frank Lampard currently in charge until the end of the campaign.
Pochettino, who was the Blues’ London rivals Tottenham’s manager for five years, is on Chelsea’s final shortlist in their pursuit for a successor to Graham Potter.
However, former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is still viewed as the frontrunner for the post.
Luis Enrique has also been linked with the job at Stamford Bridge but could also replace Antonio Conte as next permanent Tottenham manager.
Pochettino has been out of management since the end of last season, leaving Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022 after winning his first Ligue 1 title.
Chelsea are currently languishing in 11th in the Premier League, with no wins in all competitions since March 11 and no goals scored this month.
