Feyenoord boss Arne Slot believes the Premier League is the ‘best league in the world’ amid his links with the Tottenham job.
talkSPORT understands that the Dutchman and Luis Enrique are the two frontrunners for the vacant role at Spurs.
Slot has recently guided Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title since 2017, and the club want to offer him a new deal.
With speculation over a potential switch to north London growing, the 44-year-old was keen to avoid giving a definitive answer over his future, but did not rule himself out of the running .
When asked if he will let Feyenoord know if he’s staying or going in his press conference on Friday, a laughing Slot said: “Now I have to give you the same answer as I gave to the Dutch media, we are here for the game on Sunday instead of talking about this.
“Every answer I give, with respect on your question, will bring up extra questions so when it comes to Feyenoord, this morning already we were working on plans for the during summer and after the summer.
“So we just continue like that because I still have a remaining contract for two years.”
“I just said to your colleagues next question,” he said with another laugh when asked about being a frontrunner for the Spurs role. “But I already gave a few times an answer to this sort of question but like I said, it is not the moment to talk about this.”
He added: “You can keep continuing asking the same questions over and over again, but the answer every time is we are here for the game on Sunday.
“You’ve asked some questions about how we experience being the champion, it’s quite normal I answer those questions, but all the other ones are not for this moment.”
Slot was also questioned on the potential of managing in the Premier League, and had nothing but praise for the top flight of English football.
“I think when it comes to Holland, the next step will not be another club in Holland,” he replied. “If that is the next step, I’ve failed completely in the upcoming few years.
“So normal next step would be to go abroad, and I’ve always said that the best league in the world is the Premier League, but when it comes to Italy, you see now that there are a few clubs that are being in every European final as well.
“So there are more countries where it’s interesting to go to in the future but, the Premier League is the biggest league in the world, that is clear.”
Spurs are continuing the search for their next permanent appointment in the dugout since Antonio Conte left in March.
His assistant Cristian Stellini took charge as interim before being replaced by Ryan Mason in the same capacity.
They still have the chance to qualify for European football next season, with Brentford and Leeds being their final two opponents of the campaign.
