Jamie O’Hara shocks Laura Woods with claim Spurs could be relegated without Harry Kane

Tottenham have been told that they will be in a relegation fight next season if they sell Harry Kane this summer.

That is according to former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who insists Kane lacks ‘ambition’ if he decides to stay at the club.

The 29-year-old is facing an uncertain future in north London with his contract to expire in 2024.

Kane has been linked with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and most recently Paris Saint-Germain as speculation intensifies over where he will end up.

England legend Stuart Pearce urged the striker to leave at the end of the season after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Brentford.

And now O’Hara has weighed in on Kane’s future during his appearance on the Sports Breakfast show on Monday morning.

Asked by talkSPORT host Laura Woods whether he believes the player will stick around, O’Hara said: “Well look, obviously we all hope that he sticks around and signs a new contract.

“Because Laura, without Harry Kane, I seriously think we could be fighting relegation next season.”

A shocked Woods simply replied ‘no’ in astonishment, leading O’Hara to state: “We are that bad without him.

“We have been solely dependent on Harry Kane to score us goals and do stuff for us.

“And I think the lack of ambition that we’ve shown and the players that we’ve signed that haven’t been good enough, if he leaves, we are in big, big, trouble.

“And I feel like he’s got to leave, why would he stay? The guy wants to win something, the guy deserves to win trophies. I just don’t see that changing next season.”

O’Hara added: “If he doesn’t leave, he lacks ambition doesn’t he? Let’s be honest.

“If he doesn’t leave and a club does come in for him and Spurs go, ‘you know what, we will probably look at having to sell you.’

“And he doesn’t go to let’s say Manchester United, then I think he lacks ambition.”

Woods then insisted that chairman Daniel Levy will have the final say, as she argued that he could decide to let Kane leave on a free transfer next year.

Kane has been the main reason why Spurs are fighting for a spot in Europe next term, with the striker scoring 28 out of their 66 Premier League goals.
