Bayern, managed by ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, have seen two bids rejected by the north London club.

Tottenham remain hopeful they can hold on to the England international, but are seeking £100million upfront for his services.

Kane, who has one year left on his contract and is yet to win any silverware with Spurs, recently captained his side a 3-2 friendly defeat to West Ham in Australia.

Rooney, now in charge of MLS side DC United, has admitted he would love to see him at Old Trafford.

“Harry Kane would be the ideal player, for me, to go and join Manchester United,” he told The Athletic.

“It looks like he’s being held as a prisoner at Tottenham! It looks very difficult for him to get out of there.

“If Manchester United have Harry Kane, then that gives their chances of going to win, and compete, a lot easier. But where that happens, remains to be seen.”

Kane has reportedly ruled out a move to Paris Saint-Germain who recently joined the race for his signature.

Bayern Munich are confident of landing the striker and have been making public comments about him.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness recently said: “Harry Kane has clearly signalled in all conversations that his decision stands.

“If he keeps to his word, then we’ll get him, because then Tottenham will have to buckle.

“Kane wants to play internationally and luckily for us Tottenham will not be active internationally next year.”
