Danjuma to join Everton just six months after snubbing move for Tottenham

Arnaut Danjuma is finally set to join Everton, six months on from when his initial move was hijacked.

The Villarreal winger had been poised to join the Toffees in January, with then-manager Frank Lampard looking to boost his attacking options as his side languished in the Premier League relegation zone.

But just as Everton thought they’d fended off competition as he agreed to join, Tottenham swooped in and snapped him up instead.

Now though, talkSPORT understands Danjuma will now finally complete a move to Goodison Park after rejecting an offer from AC Milan.

It will be a straight loan with no buy option and is expected to be completed by the weekend.

The forward is also expected to have his medical on Thursday.

The loan move will reportedly cost Everton – who achieved Premier League survival on the final day – around £3.5million.

It’s understood he believes a move to Merseyside will be the ‘best for his career’, as per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, despite snubbing the very same club just six months ago.

Danjuma ended up scoring twice in 11 appearances during his half-a-season loan in north London, with Spurs sacking Antonio Conte in the middle of his spell there.

The former Netherlands international started just twice for Tottenham during his loan.

That was a far cry from the 17 starts he made in 23 La Liga and 11 Champions League appearances in 2021/22 with Villarreal following his £21million move from Bournemouth.

That season saw him net 16 goals in all competitions, one shy of the tally he achieved the season before in the Championship with the Cherries.

Danjuma will be Everton’s second summer signing, with the Toffees already bringing in the experienced Ashley Young from Aston Villa on a free transfer.
