Asia Cup 2023: Shakib Al Hasan Named Captain As Bangladesh Announces Squad For Asia Cup

Bangladesh Cricket Team has announced the squad for the Asia Cup 2023. Shakib Al Hasan has been given the responsibility to lead the side after Tamim Iqbal stepped down from the post. The all-rounder will be captain of the team in all three formats now.

Asia Cup 2023 will be played from 30th August to 17th September. Out of 13 games, 4 games will take place in Pakistan whereas 9 games will be played in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will be among the hot favourites to win the tournament because of their performances of late.

They have included uncapped Tanzid Tamim in their squad. The young batter was picked on the basis of his performances in the emerging Asia Cup 2023. Apart from him, Shamim Hossain has also received his maiden ODI call-up.

Bangladesh have dropped Mahmudullah along with Taijul Islam and Rony Talukdar from the squad whereas Mahedi Hasan is back in the team after being out of the team for a while. The rest of the squad is pretty similar to the last series they played against Afghanistan.
