    Ababu Namwamba hands over four Stadiums to the Kenya Defense force for Refurbishment – Athletics News

    Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports Ababu Namwamba today handed over four stadia to the Kenya Defense Force for supervision during its refurbishment and development as part of the upcoming international games that includes Africa Athletics Championships and preparations towards the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

    The four stadia includes Nyayo National Stadium, Kasarani International Stadium, Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret and the New Talanta Stadium which will be developed as a 50,000 seat composite facility at the Jamhuri grounds.

    While handing over at the beautiful ceremony the CS assure Kenyans and the contractors that all the resources will be available to ensure that all the four state of the art stadiums built with the latest technology and standards will be brought into completion in good time.

    “The development and refurbishment of these four Stadia is part of the Ministry’s Infrastructure Master plan which details how we will develop our facilities in a structured manner and brings to an end the haphazard development of Stadia across the country,” Said the CS.

    “The work will be of international standards and we will give value for taxpayers’ money spent,” noted CS Ababu during the handover. He said that the handover to the military was necessary for timeliness, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the project”.

    Ababu was flanked by the PS for Sports Eng. Peter Tum and PS for defense Patrick Mariru who also witnessed the milestone that the ministry was putting in place for the betterment of the sporting infrastructure.

    On his part PS Eng. Tum reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to support the refurbishment and development process through timely financing and allocation of resources.

    “As the Principal Secretary of this state department tasked with delivering these projects I assure Kenyans and the contractors that we will make available all the resources required to ensure that we bring this to fruition and in good time,” he said.

    While officially accepting the Stadia handover the PS of defense assured the ministry of the military’s full commitment to supervise the refurbishment and development of the facilities to the standard agreed upon.
