Ivan Perisic may have played final Tottenham game as club confirm serious injury

Tottenham star Ivan Perisic could be ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

The Croatia defender will undergo surgery after sustaining the problem in non-contact training, Spurs have confirmed.

A club statement read: “We can confirm that Ivan Perisic has suffered a complex Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee.

“The experienced Croatia international sustained the injury in non-contact training and will undergo surgery.

“Wishing you well in your recovery, Ivan.”

Perisic is out of contract at the end of the season and the typical recovery time for ACL injuries is eight to nine months, meaning he may have played his last game for the club.

The 34-year-old veteran had made an impactful start to the campaign, establishing himself as a key player from the bench in a number of games.

Perisic was instrumental in Tottenham’s 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Sheffield United last Saturday.

Despite coming on with ten minutes to play, the Croatian provided the perfect cross for Richarlison to level eight minutes into injury time.

Perisic joined Tottenham on a free transfer in 2022, linking up with Antonio Conte after the pair worked together at Inter.
