Bruno Fernandes has been hailed as ‘top class’ for his match-winning moment of magic against Burnley.
Manchester United went into the clash at Turf Moor on the back of three-straight defeats in all competitions, with 10 goals conceded in those fixtures.
Vincent Kompany’s side looked well up for the test in the early stages, before Jonny Evans gave Burnley a warning with a headed goal that was ruled out by VAR.
However that effort galvanised United, with Evans then turning provider to play a glorious ball over the top to Fernandes.
Moving in from the right flank, the Portuguese star slammed a wonderful volley past James Trafford in the Burnley goal, an effort that Micky Gray hailed as truly top quality.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Gray said: “Absolutely outstanding from Bruno Fernandes.
“He was involved in the move and when that ball got played over the top you can see that eyes just never veered away from the ball and it’s absolutely fantastic.
“He catches it on the volley, keeps it low and gives James Trafford absolutely no chance. It’s a super finish.
“I’m not a fan of Fernandes playing on that right-hand side but he created quite a lot in the first half.
“It’s a top class finish. What a goal.”
While Man United looked to kill the game off, the strike from Fernandes was enough to earn a 1-0 win, something that Gray says will be all that the Red Devils will care about following a less-than fluent display.
Speaking at full-time, Gray added: “Overall I think you have to say that Man United deserved it.
“They had the better opportunities. It was far from a polished performance but it wasn’t about that, it was about the result and they got the job done and got the three points.
“More importantly, they got that clean sheet so I think Erik ten Hag will be thrilled.”
