Manchester United have been dealt a potential injury worry after Casemiro hobbled off injured on international duty.
The midfielder was part of Brazil’s side to face Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier, a match that ended 1-1.
As well as being a disappointing night for Brazil that saw Neymar pelted with a bag of popcorn on his way off the pitch, Casemiro suffered an innocuous blow.
The 31-year-old was taken off on 79 minutes and Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz confirmed that it was due to an ankle injury.
“As there was a stop (in play), I decided to make the three substitutions,” Diniz told Globo Esporte.
““We had a lot of control when they came on. Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.”
For Manchester United, fans will be hoping for good news.
The Red Devils have been on a poor run of form, struggling in 10th position in the Premier League and bottom of their Champions League group with two defeats from two games.
Casemiro has been one of Man United’s more consistent performers and given his experience in the game, supporters will be hoping that he can guide the team further up the table.
