Fans thought De Bruyne ‘assisted’ Drake with new job but he sets record straight

Fans were left bemused as Kevin De Bruyne appeared to be credited as a writer for a song on Drake’s new album.

The rap star’s new album ‘For All The Dogs – Scary Hours Edition’ contains a bonus track called ‘Wick Man’ that has three songwriters credited.

The names read, A.Graham (Drake), A.Mamam (Producer The Alchemist) and K. De Bruyne.

The Manchester City assist king briefly joined in the fun by sharing the song details on Twitter alongside the caption: “Drake needed an assist.”

However, it was quickly followed up by a tweet which read: “All jokes aside, it’s not me! Huge fan though!”

The midfield star has been out injured since August after undergoing surgery on his hamstring, however the Belgian is no stranger to Drake after the pair were pictured together in the past.

Amid the confusion, fans flocked to social media to give their thoughts on what appeared to be a new career move for De Bruyne, with some joking the City star was able to transfer his on-field skills to the recording studio.

One fan wrote: “Assisting as usual.”

Another added: “Assists on and off the pitch!!! I prayed for times like this.”

A third wrote: “Man is everywhere, assisting both on and off the pitch.”

A fourth wrote: “Assisting Haaland on the field and Drake off the field”

De Bruyne is expected to return to action in January or February 2024 and City boss Pep Guardiola revealed the club will not take any risks by rushing the Belgian’s recovery.

Danny Murphy believes no Chelsea players would start for Manchester City and says that Enzo Fernandez ‘can’t lace Kevin De Bruyne’s boots’

“He says he feels really good, but still isn’t training or running much, “ said Guardiola. “I’d say he’s the last one [of the club’s injured stars] to come back and train with us.

“I won’t say two weeks, one week. We don’t put pressure, the doctors say next step. No pressure, recover, it’s not necessary to make bad decisions to come back early. Step by step.”
