Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark scored 29 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds in Friday’s 103-69 rout of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for her 14th career triple-double and to inch closer to Brittney Griner on the NCAA all-time scoring list (women’s college basketball).
Clark, 21, now has 3,218 points and is 65 behind Griner (3,283), who sits fourth on the list. The Iowa star trails record-holder Kelsey Plum by 309 and the two other women in her way of history are Kelsey Mitchell (3,402) and Jackie Stiles (3,393).

Women’s college basketball is not big enough for Clark’s records. She also recorded her eighth career triple-double with more than 25 points. No other player in Division 1 history, man or woman, has ever had more than three.
Clark exited the match with 6:20 left to play in the fourth quarter as the crowd gave her a standing ovation.

The arena held a moment of silence prior too tipoff in honor of those who lost their lives in the Perry, Iowa school shooting, near Clark’s hometown.
“I grew up 40 minutes away and you know it gave me chills in that moment of silence,” Clark said. “Thinking and praying for all those people affected and as you saw we were wearing blue ribbons and supporting them tonight.”
No. 4 Iowa (15-1, 4-0 Big Ten) visits Purdue on Wednesday as Rutgers takes on No. 20 Ohio State the next day.
