The January transfer window is now open, and following the appointment of Michael Beale on Wearside, Sunderland have an opportunity to bolster their squad as they push for promotion.
Results have been fairly up and down for the Black Cats this season, but they sit well within the race to clinch a spot in the play-offs as the winter market opens for business.
With an opportunity for Sunderland to strengthen their squad, Football FanCast has gathered some of the latest transfer rumours regarding the possible incomings and outgoings at the Stadium of Light this month.

Sam Gallagher – Blackburn Rovers: Following links earlier in the month to Kieffer Moore, it is reported by journalist Alan Nixon (via Football League World) that a potential backup option for the Black Cats could be Blackburn forward Sam Gallagher.
The 28-year-old is having his own struggles this term, having only featured five times in the Championship this season as a result of injury.
Gallagher will be out of contract in the summer if Rovers do not trigger his one-year extension in his current deal at Ewood Park.
However, he has hardly proved to be a prolific striker in front of goal, with his last domestic campaign where he netted a double-figure return coming all the way back in the 2016/17 season (via Transfermarkt).

Lamare Bogarde – Aston Villa: According to The Athletic, Sunderland are one of the clubs showing an interest in Aston Villa youngster Lamare Bogarde.
Indeed, the Black Cats are strongly interested in the 19-year-old, who typically plays as a midfielder but also has the ability to play in defence.
A potential deal for the youngster is believed to be being pushed by Michael Beale, who previously worked with Bogarde following his time as Villa’s assistant manager.
Bogarde has just returned from a loan spell at Bristol Rovers after failing to land a regular spot in the League One side’s starting XI.

Jack Clarke: According to the Evening Standard, there are now a number of Premier League clubs weighing up a January move for the Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.
Brentford, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are the three clubs being linked with the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster in the January market.
Clarke has been in stunning form this term in the Championship having provided Sunderland a return of 12 goals and two assists in his 26 appearances (via Transfermarkt).
Although the Black Cats are obviously keen to keep Clarke at the club, the report does suggest a bid north of £20m could be enough to make them consider allowing him to leave.
