Exclusive: BCCI Announces The Schedule For IPL 2024, First Encounter To Happen Between CSK And This Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the schedule for the highly awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Thursday. The fixtures for the first 15 days of the tournament have been disclosed where 21 matches will be played around these days. BCCI is waiting for the schedule of the central elections, which are set to occur later this year.

The opening match of the IPL 2024 will feature Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at M. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The second match will be played between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Mohali.

The IPL 2024 is scheduled to commence on March 22 and will conclude on May 26. Similar to the 2023 edition, this year will feature 74 matches, but unlike the 60 days in the previous year, the fixtures will span 67 days. The extension by a week is attributed to the General Elections. This approach mirrors the strategy employed during the last Lok Sabha Elections in 2019 when the fixtures were announced in two parts.

Last year, Chennai Super Kings won the IPL beating Gujarat Titans and lifted the trophy for the fifth time under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
