Ange Postecoglou issues blunt response when asked about Manchester United

Ange Postecoglou delivered a blunt response to questions about their top four battle with Manchester United.

Aston Villa currently occupy fourth spot in the table but a three-goal victory for Spurs in their game in hand against Chelsa would see them leapfrog Unai Emery‘s side.

Another side who are in the chasing pack are Man United who currently sit eight points behind Tottenham.

A hard-fought win over Luton for the north Londoners before the Red Devils’ draw with Brentford appears to have set the course for a shoot-out between Villa and Spurs.

But while it seems unlikely, Postecoglou was asked if Erik ten Hag‘s side are still in the hunt for fourth, to which the Australian gave a fiery response.

Asked if Man United are still in the race, Postecoglou said: “Can you see us challenging Manchester City [for the title]?

“No? Well they’re only eight points ahead of us.

“If there’s eight points [gap], you either think we can catch Man City who are eight points ahead of us or you think Man United can catch us.

“What’s important for me is that we want to finish the season strong and keep building on the foundation of being a team that hopefully in 12 months’ time people are looking at us differently and talking about us differently.”

Tottenham are next in action against West Ham on Tuesday night – a clash that is exclusively live on talkSPORT.

Spurs will also have to contend with a bizarre kick-off time on Sunday, April 7 as the face Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That clash starts at 6pm having been moved from Monday night due to rail strikes.
