Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is considering a move away from the club following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.
The Senegal international sealed a £32million switch to Stamford Bridge last summer but struggled to make the desired impact in the months following the move.
Jackson hit a memorable hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 win at Tottenham in November but just two goals in his following 12 league games saw him struggle to shake off the boo-boys.
His form picked up in the second half of the season thanks to the faith shown in him by Pochettino, but the Argentine’s departure last month has left him considering his future, according to talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook.
“I’m told the decision to part company with Mauricio Pochettino didn’t go down well with all Chelsea players,” said Crook. “Nicolas Jackson in particular, who you can’t argue improved under Poch’s coaching last season.
“He is not happy about the managerial change and possibly is looking for a move away. There is some interest from Atletico Madrid.”
The 22-year-old has picked up an injury while on international duty with Senegal for two World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.
He started a 1-1 draw against DR Congo but was substituted late on with an ankle injury.
Jackson underwent an MRI scan and missed the second game against Mauritania.
The severity of the injury is unknown at present with Jackson currently enjoying his summer break back in his home country.
Chelsea have made no secret of their intention to bolster their attack for the 2024/25 season under new boss Enzo Maresca.
The Blues have been linked with a move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran and Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
Long-standing links with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen remain, with the Serie A side keen to offload the Nigerian for a sizeable fee this summer.
Chelsea kick off the new Premier League season on August 18 with a mouthwatering clash at home to champions Manchester City.
