LeBron James reaches historic milestone with contract extension

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had already become the highest-earning player in NBA history when he inked a two-year, $97.1M contract extension with the team in 2022.

It was reported on Wednesday that LBJ has now agreed to a new two-year, $104M maximum contract with the Lakers, a deal that gives the four-time MVP a significant edge over Michael Jordan in on-court career earnings.

James’ new megadeal also pushes him past a monstrous milestone.

There are a host of reasons why King James has been able to rack up so much more money than M.J., despite the latter’s argument as the best player in NBA history.

Although the pair of all-timers’ careers missed overlapping by just one season, Jordan still played in a different era than James.

As each decade passes, NBA players and professional athletes in general, are making more and more money. While the former No. 1 overall pick will possibly go down as the GOAT, there will almost certainly be a player perhaps in the not-too-distant future who passes James in career earnings.

For now, though, the 20-time All-Star remains “King.”
