Tyreek Hill is one of the most explosive players in the NFL, both on and off the field. On the field, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver can change the course of a game with a single reception. Off the field, his outspoken nature and thoughtless comments make him a constant target of criticism from fans and the media.
From accusations that he broke the leg of model and influencer Sophie Hall, to the constant controversies he gets into due to his explosive statements against his teammates and rivals alike, Hill never stops making news off the field.
On this occasion, the West Alabama product surprised the hosts of “The Dive Bar” podcast by recalling how he reacted after losing the wild card round game of the last playoffs against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hill’s locker room explosion
2023 was Tyreek Hill’s first year with the Dolphins after leaving the Chiefs in search of a better salary. As fate would have it, Miami faced Kansas City twice that year, both with unfortunate results for Hill and his new teammates.
The first was a 21-14 loss in Frankfurt, Germany, in Week 9. The second was even more painful, especially for Hill, as it was a resounding 26-7 defeat at Arrowhead Stadium that left the Dolphins out of the postseason.
Hill was honest in admitting that the defeat did not sit well with him. “I’m passionate about it. I wanna win. I was born a winner. My whole entire life, I’ve been a winner. I hate losing,” the receiver confessed.
Furthermore, the Arrowhead furniture was about to pay the price for his frustration. “When we lost against the Chiefs, bruh, I wanted to f*cking go punch my f*cking locker 100 times. F*ck that sh*t, bruh. I was pissed. F*ck that. I wanna win,” Hill explained.
The 2024 Season
Fate was kind to Tyreek Hill this time, as he will not have to face the Chiefs during the regular season.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ team is aiming for an unprecedented three-peat and has already filled the hole in its offense left by Hill’s unexpected departure. The arrival of rookie Xavier Worthy will give the Chiefs’ receiving corps the depth it lacked last season, making them even more dangerous.
The Dolphins, for their part, will try to make a deep run in the upcoming playoffs after two consecutive seasons of losing in the wild card round. If they do, Hill may have a chance to get even for last year’s two losses.
