Kate Upton reveals the biggest problem she's had to overcome to be happy with Justin Verlander

Kate Upton revealed she knew very little about Major League Baseball‘s grueling schedule when she met her future husband, Justin Verlander.

The actress and model, who became a baseball WAG when she wed the Houston Astros pitcher in 2017, said she fell in love before realizing how chaotic her life would become, with the pitcher often gone from home for extended periods with his team.

The MLB has one of the longest regular seasons in sport, and the playoffs can extend into the fall months.

“Being a baseball wife is absolutely insane, like this schedule is wild, it’s so long. I didn’t know,” the 32-year-old said on Monday’s episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast.

“I accidentally fell in love. I had no idea that there were this many games.”

Just how busy is the MLB season?

Upton explained that MLB’s spring training begins in February, followed by a 162-game regular season from late March to late September. The postseason then extends for another month.

“No consecutive off days, only Mondays and Thursdays,” she joked.

“I’m like I don’t see him, especially when you start getting into late playoffs when the baseball is so exciting, but you’re like, ‘I haven’t seen my husband in months, like they better win.

“To watch someone you love out there and have no control, it was a totally new experience, and so it already started this nervous energy running through me like, ‘Oh no’.

“You want them to do well and you want them to feel good. He’s my husband. I want him to come home and be happy and not be disappointed in how he played or what happened.”
