“My performance in T 20 international…”Shubman Gill drops a bombshell on his recent outings in T 20 format

Shubman Gill admitted that he didn’t meet the high hopes people had for him before the T20 World Cup. Gill was part of the backup team that went to the West Indies and USA, where the Indian cricket team won by defeating South Africa in the championship game. Gill started playing T20 international matches last year and has scored 505 runs in 19 games, including one hundred and three scores of fifty or more.

Except for his 126-run performance against New Zealand in Ahmadabad earlier last year, Gill had a hard time getting into his rhythm. But he started to pick up speed during the series against Sri Lanka, where he scored two half-centuries in a row. Gill mentioned that he needs more chances to get better at batting in T20 international matches.

“My performance in T20 international matches before this year’s World Cup didn’t meet my expectations. I hope that in the next series of games, which will include 30-40 T20 matches leading up to the next T20 World Cup, I can do better in batting, and our team can also improve,” Gill mentioned during a media event ahead of the T20 series with Sri Lanka.

Gill talked about his experience batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in shorter cricket matches. Jaiswal performed very well for India in Zimbabwe, scoring 36, 93 not out, and 12 runs in different games.

Gill said, “We really enjoy batting together. Our playing styles complement each other well. Since we are a right-left batting pair, we’ve had strong partnerships in the T20 matches we’ve played together; two of them even reached over 150 runs. We have a great understanding and good communication between us, and I enjoy batting with him.”

India’s cricket tour of Sri Lanka begins on Saturday, July 27, with the first T20 match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
