Newcastle have opened talks with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign Marc Guehi, talkSPORT understands.
The England defender has been linked with a number of top clubs this summer, including Arsenal, and the Magpies have now made their move.
However, the Eagles want at least £60million before they consider selling the highly-rated 24-year-old.
Palace signed Guehi from Chelsea for £18m in 2021, and has been ever-present since then, making 150 Premier League appearances over three seasons.
The centre-back has also become a starter for England, impressing on the nation’s run to the Euro 2024 final.
A move would make Guehi Newcastle’s fifth summer signing, joining fellow Blues academy graduate Lewis Hall, who recently made his loan move to the North East permanent in a £35million deal.
Meanwhile, Palace appear to have been prepared for the centre-back’s departure, bringing defender Chadi Riad to Selhurst Park from Barcelona for £12m plus £2m in add-ons earlier this summer.
