Former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was arrested on Monday night in Scottsdale, Arizona, for driving under the influence.
Police officers pulled over the 34-year-old after witnessing multiple traffic violations. Lacy, who became an NFL standout during his early career, now faces charges related to an “Extreme DUI” and possession of an open container in his vehicle.
Scottsdale police reported that Lacy was stopped around 10:40 p.m. after officers observed erratic driving. Upon further investigation, the former NFL player displayed signs of intoxication.
According to TMZ Sports, a Scottsdale Police Department spokesperson said Lacy‘s blood alcohol content (BAC) was recorded at 0.20 or higher, significantly above Arizona’s legal limit of 0.08.
In addition to the DUI charges, Lacy was cited for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.
He was taken into custody and booked on four separate DUI-related offenses, including “Extreme DUI.” Lacy was later released on Tuesday morning, though further details regarding his arrest have not yet been disclosed.
From NFL Stardom to Legal Trouble
Eddie Lacy was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and quickly made a name for himself.
In his first two seasons, he rushed for over 2,000 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. However, his career began to decline due to injuries and weight issues, which ultimately cut his time in the league short.
Lacy spent four seasons with the Packers before joining the Seattle Seahawks for one season in 2017.
Since then, Lacy has remained out of the public eye, with his NFL career coming to an unofficial end. His recent arrest is a stark reminder of the challenges some athletes face after their sports careers.
As legal proceedings continue, Lacy‘s future remains uncertain. The former NFL star’s arrest may raise questions about his personal struggles and how he navigates life after football.
