Watch: Jaguars WR Gabe Davis drops potential TD

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis seems to be developing a case of butterfingers.

On a 3rd-and-goal at the Chicago Bears’ 12-yard line Sunday, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence fired a pass to Davis, who was wide open in the end zone. However, the fifth-year wideout dropped the would-be touchdown.

Jacksonville kicker Cam Little made a 30-yard field-goal attempt on the ensuing play, giving it a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter. Still, the Jaguars may feel they left points on the board.

To cut Davis slack, he hasn’t been plagued by drops this season. Through his first five games, he logged zero drops, per Pro Football Reference.

The Jaguars (1-4) may want to see more from Davis, though, who signed a three-year, $39M deal this offseason. The former Buffalo Bill only has 12 receptions for 159 yards and no TD catches this season.

If Davis starts producing slightly better numbers, that could help the Jaguars offense improve after an underwhelming start. It ranks 20th in the NFL in passing yards (201.6) and 21st in points scored (19.4).
