Arsenal share major Martin Odegaard recovery update

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has returned to full training with the squad after missing almost two months of action through injury.

The Norwegian has been sidelined since the September international break after picking up an ankle problem that fans feared would rule him out for the rest of the year.

The club admitted on Friday that they hoped to see the midfielder return in time for their Champions League clash with Inter on Wednesday and it looks as if they may now be able to call upon the skipper for the European fixture. After missing 12 matches in total, Arsenal have now confirmed that Odegaard has returned to full training ahead of their trip to Milan.

The Gunners will hope to maintain their unbeaten run in the competition when they face the Serie A side and will have a much better chance of doing so if their captain is involved.

It’s been a tough run for Mikel Arteta’s side as of late, a disappointing 2-0 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League was followed by a tight 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the continental competition. A 1-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United was the latest blow to hit the team, with the squad’s mounting injury crisis a clear cause for concern.

Arteta, however, admitted that injuries were not an excuse for poor results.

Arsenal could still be without the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney for upcoming matches – with no return date currently set for any of the defenders.
