The Dallas Cowboys have faced increasing scrutiny this season, and speculation about changes at the head coach position continues to swirl.
Among the names floated as a potential successor to Mike McCarthy is Deion Sanders, the former Cowboys cornerback and current head coach of the University of Colorado.

According to his longtime friend Mike Zimmer, the answer may not be what fans expect.
Zimmer, currently the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator and a close confidant of Sanders, addressed the speculation in a press conference on Tuesday.
“Deion and I are obviously very good friends,” Zimmer shared.
“We talk weekly, probably. But I’m not going to speculate on any jobs or anything like that because I don’t think that’s right. I know that he’s told me many times that he’s very happy at Colorado. He likes it there.”
Sanders, who has led Colorado to national prominence this season, seems content with his current role.
“I’m happy where I am,”Sanders said on Tuesday.
“I’m good. I got a kickstand down. I’m rested, I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited, I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here. I truly do.”
While Sanders’ name is often tied to big opportunities, including NFL head coaching jobs, his lack of NFL coaching experience and his magnetic personality, which could outshine Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, make the possibility of a move to Dallas unlikely.
Jones hasn’t hired a head coach directly from the college ranks since Barry Switzer in 1994.
Meanwhile, Jones has publicly stood by McCarthy for now, despite the team’s struggles.
“I’ve made a change during the season…and I’ve regretted that,” Jones said on Monday.
As Dallas grapples with its longest losing streak since 2015, fans may continue to speculate on who might lead the team in the future.
For now, however, both Sanders and Zimmer suggest that the Hall of Famer is firmly focused on his success in Boulder, Colorado.
