Conor McGregor could say goodbye to Ireland and hello to the USA as the fallout from the Nikita Hand civil assault continues.
The Irish fighter has been living with his partner Dee Devlin and their children at a mansion in The K Club. However, they look set to leave for the USA after McGregor was deemed responsible for assaulting Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. He must also pay her over $211,500 in damages.
Along with the hit to his reputation, McGregor is also dealing with the loss of several brand deals following the civil assault case.
“Conor has been completely rattled by the devastating fallout as a result of losing the civil case. He is going to appeal the verdict to clear his name. He is genuinely very upset by it all and the manner in which he feels he has been betrayed,” stated a source.
“But the commercial damage in Britain and Ireland has been massive with retailers refusing to sell his stout and Proper No 12 whiskey.
“However the court case has not been as damaging commercially in the United States where most of his fans are standing by him.
“He wants out of Ireland for the moment and to move back to the States.”
McGregor currently owns an apartment in Las Vegas but is considering a move to Florida instead.
McGregor back in court
McGregor isn’t quite out of the woods when it comes to his legal issues as he will be back in May for a two-week High Court commercial battle.
The suit involves his former friend, Artem Lobov, who was Conor’s sparring partner.Lobov claims he was the one who came up with the idea for McGregor’s Proper No 12 whiskey.
Lobov says he was promised a five percent stake in the whiskey business for his work, and although McGregor has reportedly offered $1 million to settle, that offer was turned down.
That’s because a five percent stake is worth $6 million given McGregor sold his share in the company for $135 million a few years ago.
