The reigning African 10,000m Champion Nibret Melak beat a strong field that included the reigning London Marathon champion, Alexander Mutiso at the 10th edition of the Bangsaen21 Half Marathon held on Sunday (15) in Bang Saen Beach, Thailand.

The 25 year-old who is also the 2023 Africa Games 10,000m champion, found the going too tough as he was pushed to the wall and forced to engage the remaining strength to surge past the stubborn Mutiso and taking the honors in 1:02.32 with the latter coming home in second place two seconds later.
USA based Geoffrey Kipchumba sealed the podium in 1:02.36.
The race course record of 1:01.56 set two years ago by Josphat Kemei from Kenya remains intact.
