Watch: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson’s MVP case could continue to fizzle after costly mistake

After a hot start, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has recently cooled.

In Sunday’s road game against the New York Giants, Jackson fumbled on Baltimore’s opening drive, and Giants cornerback Adoree’ Jackson recovered the ball.

The Ravens went 7-3 in their first 10 games, and Jackson seemed poised to win his second straight MVP. Entering Week 15, however, Baltimore had lost two of its last three games.

During this stretch, Jackson completed 61.7% of his passes for five touchdowns. He was also sacked six times.

Baltimore’s dip has allowed Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to pass him in the MVP race.

Allen posted the NFL’s best QBR (76.8) in his first 13 games. Barkley, meanwhile, led the league in rushing yards (1,623) in his first 13 games.

To make up ground, Jackson must take better care of the ball. The two-time MVP has had fumble issues this season. Jackson had seven fumbles in his first 13 games, losing three of them, a career high.
