The Detroit Lions were hit with a major blow in their 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, as cornerback Khalil Dorsey suffered a severe lower leg injury in the first quarter.
Dorsey collided with teammate Ezekiel Turner while covering a crossing route, resulting in a hard impact on his right leg. He was carted off the field with an air cast applied, and head coach Dan Campbell confirmed after the game that Dorsey’s injury could be a season-ender.
In addition to Dorsey’s injury, the Lions are also facing uncertainty with defensive tackle Alim McNeill and cornerback Carlton Davis III. Campbell said he “doesn’t feel good” about the outlook for the players.
“When I say I don’t feel good about it, that means for the rest of the year,” Campbell said.
With Dorsey, McNeill and Davis potentially sidelined for the rest of the season, the Lions defense is facing a serious challenge. The team will need to rely on backups and younger players to step up.
With injuries already sidelining Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, Alex Anzalone and others, Detroit’s defense is increasingly thin.
Looking ahead, the Lions will need to bounce back against the Bears next week. Every win is crucial as they fight to remain the top seed heading into the playoffs, with just two weeks left in the regular season.
