Andy Reid not surprised by Mahomes’ quick recovery

Mahomes sustained a high ankle sprain during last week’s game but participated fully in practices throughout the week.

“He did look good out there,”Reid said during Thursday’s press conference.

“He moved around pretty good. You’re always looking to make sure they can get out of the way and not further any harm to themselves. That’s what I look at.”

Mahomes’ resilience and determination have become legendary in the NFL.

This week marks yet another example of his mental toughness, as Reid admitted he initially thought it was a “longshot” for the quarterback to recover in time.

“He amazes me every time he does it,” Reid added.

“Where he was a few days ago, I’d probably say it was a longshot. He’s done well with it.”

Mahomes has been a consistent presence for the Chiefs, not missing a start due to injury since 2019.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins echoed Reid’s confidence, stating that Mahomes looked like “he always does” during practice.

The Chiefs also received an unexpected boost with the anticipated return of wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Brown, who suffered an injury during the preseason, is set to make his season debut.

While it remains unclear whether he will be in the starting lineup, his return adds a significant weapon to Kansas City’s offense as they push toward the postseason.

With the Chiefs eyeing a historic third consecutive Super Bowl victory, Mahomes’ health remains a critical factor.

While Reid expressed confidence in the quarterback’s readiness, some analysts question whether playing Mahomes now could jeopardize his long-term health.

As Kansas City gears up for Saturday’s game, fans are eager to see how Mahomes and the newly reinforced offense will perform.
