The Texas Longhorns have their fans all “horned up.” The spectacular victory over Clemson sparked the spirits of the Texas fans and even some of their rivals, such as quarterback Quinn Ewers’ girlfriend, who boasts of being a sorority girl from bitter rival Oklahoma.
The Longhorns beat the Tigers 38-24 this Saturday in the College Football Playoff (CFP) first round. This victory closed the gap between the team and its fans, resentful of the elimination in the first round of the last CFP and last week’s loss in the SEC championship game against Georgia.
The win put Texas in the quarterfinals of the CFP, and among the many displays of support from fans, Mady Barnes, Quinn Ewers’ girlfriend, stands out. On her Instagram account, Barnes made a photo recount of the path that led them to this victory.

Barnes and McConaughey all “horned up”
Madelyne Barnes, a Marketing student at the University of Oklahoma, has never stopped supporting Ewers despite their schools’ rivalry. On this occasion, Barnes shared photos of the most special moments she has experienced this season with the Longhorns.
The walk-down memory lane includes photos of her friends, family, and Ewers’ family, almost all with the hand sign of the horns that Longhorns fans make after a victory.
Among the photos, it is impossible to miss one in which Barnes poses with actor Matthew McConaughey, one of the most famous and passionate Longhorns fans. The image appears to be before the Clemson game, where the actor walked out onto the field with the team to cheers from the fans.
What’s next for Texas
Clemson was just the first hurdle on the Longhorns’ road to the Championship Game. Next week, fifth-seeded Texas will face fourth-seeded Arizona State in the storied Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, seeking a spot in the semifinals.
The winner of that game will face the winner of the Rose Bowl between Oregon (1) and Ohio State (8). If the Clemson game is any indication, Texas and Ewers could be at the start of a historic run to the title game with Barnes and McConaughey in tow.
