Watch: Knicks hang on for Christmas Day win in thrilling final sequence

The San Antonio Spurs had not one but two chances to secure a rebound and give themselves a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation.

They were unable to do so, and the New York Knicks held on to win a 117-114 thriller in the first of five NBA games on Christmas Day.

Victor Wembanyama and Mikal Bridges put on a show for the MSG crowd, as they both exceeded 40 points and each scored 10+ points in the fourth quarter.

In his first game on Christmas Day, Wembanyama finished with 42 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Wembanyama was just three points shy of tying Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most points in a Christmas Day debut.

Bridges scored 41 points on efficient 17-of-25 (6-of-9 from three) shooting from the field and scored the second-most points ever by a Knicks player on Christmas Day.

If this was any indication of how the rest of the games on Wednesday will play out, NBA fans are in for quite the gift.
