Two Premier League clubs fighting to sign Celtic youth star Daniel Cummings

Celtic youth star Daniel Cummings has reportedly caught the eye of both West Ham and Brighton.

The Hoops risk losing their academy product with his contract set to expire this summer.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Celtic are pushing to agree fresh terms with the 18-year-old, but may need to fend off the Hammers and the Seagulls this month.

Cummings is yet to make his debut for Celtic’s senior team, but has scored 24 times in 24 games at youth level.

West Ham’s new manager, Graham Potter, urgently needs a new forward during the winter transfer window.

A fresh injury setback for summer signing Niclas Fullkrug in the 2-1 loss against Aston Villa has left him sidelined for over a month.

The Hammers made a bold £50million attempt to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran this month, which fell dramatically short.

Brighton, their fellow Premier League contenders, are also casting an interested eye on Cummings.

The Seagulls, a club former manager Potter knows well, have built a remarkable reputation for identifying and nurturing rising stars.

In November last year, the CIES Football Observatory unveiled a list of the most valuable under-21 footballers globally.

And Brighton had the most players in the top 100, with seven stars included.

Cummings, a cherished product of Celtic’s youth academy, has showcased remarkable form in Stephen McManus’ Celtic B Team.

His standout moment came in May 2023, when he scored the decisive goal in a thrilling 6-5 victory against Rangers in the Scottish Youth Cup final.

First-team boss Brendan Rodgers had him on the bench for the win over Ross County in Dingwall.

Cummings is also proudly representing Scotland at youth international level. He played for the Under-17 team in 2023, playing a key role in their qualification for the 2023 European Championship.

Celtic’s transfer window took an odd twist last week, with an unexpected exit announced in a deleted post moments before a game.

Kyogo Furuhashi was said to have been ‘acquired’ by Atlanta United in an article posted by the MLS.

While Kyogo has struggled in front of goal this season, he remains a key player for Celtic and one they would be reluctant to lose.

Rodgers will be hoping to keep hold of the promising talent.

Reports have, however, suggested Atlanta United are willing to pay £10million to land him this month.

There was mass confusion over the MLS’ announcement as the 29-year-old was sat on the Celtic bench as it was released.

The article has been deleted from the MLS website, although the URL still states that Atlanta has signed Kyogo.

Cummings will be hoping his future can be secured more proficiently by the end of the transfer window.
