Harry and Meghan Markle are forced to defend themselves in a statement following accusations in new reports

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves in the spotlight again, forced to defend their charitable foundation, Archewell, after recent reports accused them of spending significant sums on organizations linked to the Democratic Party.

The new allegations claim that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex directed hundreds of thousands of pounds to left-wing aligned causes via their charity, totalling $786,550 to various groups with connections to Democratic politics, including a notable contribution to Ashley Biden‘s nonprofit.

As per The New York Post, the charity contributed $249,800 to the Women’s Wellness Space in 2023, an organization founded by the then-president’s daughter. The initiative, launched last year, focuses on trauma-informed wellness for women in North Philadelphia.

It particularly targets formerly incarcerated individuals and the report from Archewell’s 2023-2024 impact statement noted that the charity had become a founding partner of the Women’s Wellness Space, supporting its mission.

However, the donations have attracted criticism from figures like Nile Gardiner, a fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation.

Gardiner, previously campaigned against Prince Harry‘s U.S visa status following revelations in his memoir, and called for the Archewell matter investigated by Congress.

Harry and Meghan still retain royal titles,” Gardiner told The New York Post. “And should not be engaging in any way in political activity. It’s actually outrageous.”

In addition to supporting Ashley Biden‘s nonprofit, Archewell also made significant donations to other organizations.

These included $146,383 to Jiore Craig, a media strategist known for his work with the Democratic Party, and $154,926 to Herlihy Loughran, a firm that connects influential people to charitable causes.

Furthermore, $89,927 was given to Markup News Inc., a nonprofit supported by notable Democratic donors, including George Soros and the Craigslist founder, Craig Newmark.

“It’s important to note The Duke and Duchess did not endorse any candidate in the election,” a spokesperson explained to the New York Post on behalf of Prince Harry and Markle. “And to suggest they’re trying to curry favor with the Democratic Party, simply because a donation went to Ashley Biden‘s nonpartisan nonprofit focused on women’s mental health, is misguided.

“The Duke and Duchess are committed to investing in people and initiatives that truly make a difference.”
