The leak of the trade of Deebo Samuel from theSan Francisco 49ers to the Washington Commanders indirectly hit the Dallas Cowboys because of criticism from some fans towards Jerry Jones, who had to be defended by one of his stars, Micah Parsons, who has also been the focus of online criticism, as there are those who are calling for his departure.
The Commanders’ deal for Samuel is pending a physical, and cannot be made official until the offseason begins on March 12.
He would leave! Micah Parsons admits that he would not be part of the Dallas Cowboys if this happens
Meanwhile, user RJ Ochoa criticized in a post on his X account that while the Cowboys invested a fourth-round pick to get Jonathan Mingo, the Commanders got Deebo Samuel in exchange for a fifth-round pick, an opinion that did not sit well with Micah Parsons and he responded.
“Washington pocketed almost $22 million with Deebo’s contract this year! This has no relation!” Parsons replied, although according to Sportskeeda he was inaccurate, as for 2025 Samuel‘s contract is $17.5 million, while the 49ers will assume $31 million of the dead salary cap and lose $15.1 million in salary cap space.
Another partner for Jayden Daniels
The Commanders will add Samuel to their offense, bolstering the group of receivers that will accompany quarterback Jayden Daniels in his second season in the NFL. Samuel arrives after a campaign in which he had 51 receptions, 670 yards and three touchdowns with the 49ers.
Washington, who reached the NFC Championship Game before falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, entered the offseason with one of the three largest amounts of salary cap space. General manager Adam Peters had some wiggle room and decided to use some of those resources to secure the arrival of Samuel.
The receiver, who signed a three-year extension with the 49ers in 2022, has accumulated 334 receptions, 4,792 yards and 22 touchdowns since debuting with San Francisco in 2019. However, his continuity with the California team was thrown into doubt when, at the end of last season, he requested a trade during a meeting with coach Kyle Shanahan.
The AP news agency recalled that San Francisco had already explored the possibility of trading him the previous offseason, but no offer was attractive enough to make the move.
