Against South Africa in the Champions Trophy semi-final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, ace pacer Matt Henry injured his shoulder during fielding. Thirty-three years old in the 29th over of the game slid in to try a low grab of Heinrich Klaasen but unfortunately damaged his right shoulder. Henry was met right after he finished the catch by the physios and was forced to leave the field.
Only seven overs were bowled by him in the game, and that’s a major worry for the team going into the March 9 Champions Trophy final against India. Captain Mitchell Santner mentioned he had a sore shoulder and team management will have to wait a few days to know the extent of the damage in sharing an update on his fitness.
Have to wait and see if Matt Henry’s shoulder is. Santner said in the post-match interview: “It&’s a bit sore, we have to wait for a couple of days and see.”
The captain was thrilled with the team performance taken altogether. Roois stamped their control over South Africa with a 50-run victory. Although the team led by Temba Bavuma was on a losing streak for quite some time, David Miller’s one-man show maintained the scoreboard ticking—or else, it might have resulted in an awkward loss. Although Miller scored 100, Santner was generally pleased with how all the guys played.
“By means of wickets in the middle overs, we made it difficult for the opposition”. Grouply, we emphasize the need of middle wicket-taking and pressure application. In the last match, Michael Bracewell bowled very well to get a 4-fer. Three scalps today was quite gratifying for me to get. We have four all-rounders who can bat and bowl spin so this simplifies my work. Santner remarked, “Rachin&’s five overs were superb.
