The 2025 National Women’s Soccer League seems to be more divided than ever. The current split between the top and mid teams is noticeable based on last season’s results, with Washington Spirit, Orlando Pride, and KC Current as the title contenders while the likes of the Houston Dash and Seattle Reign fighting to finish better than their 14th and 13th place, respectively.

Angel City were amongst that struggling pack and are looking to restart and build with a search for a new head coach after recently appointing a new sporting director Mark Parsons. Unlocking the attacking talent is key as it’s clear that’s where their strength lies in the squad.

Angel City’s squad heading into the new season presents a unique challenge in terms of squad balance — particularly in the attacking third. There’s a noticeable excess of wingers, yet a shortage of out-and-out center forwards. With no new additions expected before the summer transfer window, when international options will become more accessible, the club must work with its internal resources to navigate the early stages of the season.
