With women’s sports drawing record crowds and investments in recent years, fans are left wondering — why is it still so hard to find a place to watch the games? Thankfully, women’s sports bars are starting to emerge nationwide, dedicated to supporting and showcasing women’s matches. From Austin, Texas, to Long Beach to Seattle, check out these six women’s sports bars around the United States. They both capture female success in sports and bring the sports community together!
1972 Pub
The brand new Austin, TX women’s sports bar opening this March 2025 offers a place for fans to celebrate women’s sports in a city with a lack of venues dedicated to showing women’s games. The bar is also rooted in the community and commits to donating “10% of our profits to local nonprofits focused on providing athletic opportunities to girls and gender-expansive youth in Austin.” A diverse and inclusive city, Austin is sure to welcome its very first bar dedicated to women’s sports.
Watch Me! Sports
What do we say when we’re told we can’t do something? “Watch me.” The new Watch Me! Sports bar in Long Beach, California, embodies that same attitude of strength and female empowerment. Their high-quality food and craft cocktails also nod to the sports world, including the “Angel City Girl” and “Penalty Kicks” cocktails. The bar has also partnered with the VOICEINSPORT Foundation, offering to upsize any item “with a side of equity” to donate to the organization.
The Sports Bra in Portland
The Sports Bra in Portland is not only a place for imbibing cocktails like “Title IX” and “Alley Oop” but is also a space for building community. As “the first-ever sports bar 100% dedicated to supporting + showing women’s sports,” The Sports Bra also offers franchising opportunities following an investment from Angel City FC co-owner, Reddit co-founder, and spouse of legend Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian. Now, anyone who wants to play a role in advancing women’s sports can do so.
Rough & Tumble in Seattle
“We’re on her team,” it says on the Rough and Tumble website. This Seattle bar celebrates and cheers for women, “the ones who dig in, play hard, fall down, get back up and keep going.” Isn’t that the theme of women’s empowerment? Rough and Tumble also recently joined the ownership team, bringing USL W league to Seattle through Salmon Bay FC, starting in the 2025 season.
A Bar of Their Own
Like the name suggests, A Bar of Their Own provides a space to enjoy women’s sports “with the sound on?” This inclusive, family-friendly bar in the Twin Cities has fun menu items like “Free Kick Kimchi Carnitas” and “Knockout Nachos.”
Whiskey Girl Tavern
Named “the spot in Chicago for women’s sports,” the Whiskey Girl Tavern hosts events like watch parties and trivia nights, and the “Whiskey, Wine, and Women” tasting event celebrating female wine-makers and distillers.
