Even with Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and LeBron James sidelined, many expected a close contest between the Lakers and Nuggets on Wednesday. Luka Doncic had other ideas.
Within the first 12 minutes, the Slovenian ensured it was curtains for the visiting Nuggets by posting a unique first-quarter stat line never achieved by any Laker in history. Doncic almost single-handedly outscored the Nuggets as the Lakers took a 17-point lead entering the second quarter en route to a 120-108 victory.
The phenomenal quarter gave him another unique distinction. Doncic, 26, became the youngest Laker point guard with a 20-point quarter.
