In a move that would end their attacking woes, Manchester United are now reportedly in concrete talks to sign a 23-goal striker at a bargain price this summer, with negotiations ongoing.

The Red Devils have it all to do this summer and they must act with their financial woes in mind. Gone are the days of their debt continuing to grow in an attempt to spend their way out of trouble. Instead, INEOS’s era has so far focused on cost-cutting measures which have drawn growing criticism as Ruben Amorim‘s side sit in the bottom half.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently faced the media to answer his critics, causing more controversy by telling reporters: “My mother would say: You look after the pennies, the pounds look after themselves.

“Money we are spending at United not as my money but as the fans’ money. Should I be spending the fans’ money on a free lunch, or should I be spending fans’ money on a new player who might win some silverware? That’s how I look at it.”

If that is to be the case, the British billionaire must simply get things right this summer, perhaps starting with a bargain deal. According to Le10 Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Manchester United are now in concrete talks to sign Jonathan David at the end of his current LOSC Lille contract this summer, with negotiations ongoing.

Joined by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United would be sealing quite the coup if they managed to lure the talented striker to Old Trafford this summer.

There’s no doubt that David would be a major upgrade on both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who have both had their fair share of struggles since arriving at Manchester United in the last two seasons.

If Ratcliffe is looking to save money and welcome an upgrade that Amorim so desperately needs then David is the answer. Set to become a free agent this summer, the 25-year-old looks destined to become one of the bargains of the summer no matter where his future lies. And if it is to be Old Trafford, then that could be that for Hojlund and Zirkzee.

Scoring more league goals than Zirkzee and Hojlund combined and a total of 23 in all competitions, David is more than ready to star in the Premier League – whether it’s for Manchester United or another side.

What’s important to note too is that David’s expected goals sit at just 8.5, meaning that he’s outperformed at an incredibly impressive rate in front of goal.

Having seen his numbers dubbed “insane” by U23 scout Antonio Mango last season, the Canada international has only taken things to a new level this season and is destined to steal the headline this summer.
